Poker celebrities to host for charity Downunder.

By RP, October 24, 2008

Australian former World Series of Poker champion Joe Hachem and top international cricketer and poker player Shane Warne are to host a charity tournament in the land Downunder on October 27th. Proceeds from the tourney will go to the Shane Warne Foundation, which has already distributed $1.7 million to charities mainly concerned with underpriveleged children.

The Crown Casino in Melbourne will be the venue for the event, which carries a thousand dollar buy-in, an investment that could yield a first prize of $25 000 and an evening out with local celebrities. The tournament will be preceded by a poker education session presided over by the two hosts.

The evening’s fun will be capped by a celebrity auction – again in aid of Warne’s foundation.
