The independent online poker monitor Pokerscout reports that 888Poker is now the second most visited online poker operator in the dedicated Spanish market, reprising its success in the similarly ring-fenced Italian market.
Over the past year 888Poker’s Spanish venture has increased its market share from 18 percent to 24 percent, positioning the business second only to market leader and industry giant Pokerstars, based on seven-day rolling averages of ring-game players.
By contrast, market leader Pokerstars has seen a decline in ring game action which has resulted in its Spanish market share slipping from 74 percent a year ago to 68 percent currently.
Observers note that much of that dip has been due to the success of the company’s own Spin & Go product, introduced in mid-2014, which has taken players away from the ring games.
