The organisers of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour were flushed with success this week following a better than expected response to the tournament which showed just how popular this concept is. The demand on the inaugural Bolton leg of the competition has persuaded Grosvenor to extend all future events to four, instead of three days.
The first leg in Bolton was originally due to have 160 runners, however, due to the sheer number of people qualifying online at Blue Square Poker.com and from direct buy-ins, this was increased to 200 competitors.
All future GUKPT events will consist of two first days, a second day and a final day.
The GUKPT is an exclusive series of 11 major poker tournaments, with each leg being filmed and then broadcast on Channel 4 from September to the end of 2007.
Players can buy in directly for GBP1 000 to each event or try their luck in qualifying through a comprehensive series of live satellites at Grosvenor Casinos and online satellites at Tour Sponsor Blue Square’s internet poker site. Each event will be taking place as the main event of an existing Grosvenor Poker Festival.
