Alistair Assheton’s Leisure and Gaming publicly listed group, which includes the VIP, Acropolis, English Harbour and Nine.com groups among its subsidiaries has put together another dynamic deal this week, this time with the newly re-branded Microgaming Poker Network.
The plan is for a new L&G poker brand titled StanleyVIPpoker.com to be formed, which will launch in late July on the rapidly growing network, formerly known as Prima Poker.
eGaming Review reports that joining Microgaming’s network represents a natural geographic fit, as the majority of VIP customers were US-based and online poker site Acropolis, acquired by L&G in October 2005 from Stanley Leisure, would provide most of its poker players from the UK.
Offline promotional opportunities would also be enhanced as Stanley has an estate of around 40 land-based casino sites throughout the UK and the marketing spend is not expected to be large thanks to Stanley’s well known brand. In addition, Stanley has approximately 1.4 million people registered on its database, which L&G will look to exploit when the site launches later in the summer.
