The first German Open poker championship on the European Poker Tour held in Dortmund this week was won by Norwegian player Andreas Hoivold when he defeated Italy’s Cristiano Bianco in a tense, two hand heads-up with the main prize of Euro 672 000 at stake.

Held at the Casino Hohenysburg in Dortmund, this is the second time a Norwegian has won a title in season 3 of the European Poker Tour; Bjorn-Erik Glenne won Euro 691 000 in the Barcelona event.

The Euro 5 000 buy-in No-Limit Texas Hold’em tournament had been fully sold out for the past two weeks, with an entry field of 500 players generating a prizepool of Euro 2.35 million. Many of the players won seats in online poker satellite competitions.
