The world’s most prestigious poker tournament, the Las Vegas-based World Series of Poker, is extending its international reach this year by launching the inaugural World Series of Poker Europe presented by Betfair.com.

WSOP Europe is scheduled to debut in London between 6-16 September 2007. The new poker series will be held at three casinos operated by London Clubs International – Fifty, The Casino at The Empire and the Sportsman.

The event begins on the 6th September with a three-day, GBP 2 500 H.O.R.S.E tournament at The Casino at The Empire, LCI’s newest casino in Leicester Square. The casino will also host a two-day, GBP 5 000 Pot-Limit Omaha event starting 8th September.

The World Series of Poker Europe Main Event – a seven-day, GBP 10 000 No-Limit Texas Hold’em Championship Event, is likely to offer the largest prize pool in poker outside of Las Vegas. Early signs from Betfair’s betting exchange suggest expectations will be met with 700+ participants. This would create a record-breaking prize pool of more than GBP 7 million.
