The Poker Players Alliance action group, which has been closely involved in attempts to get US players paid in the wake of the Full Tilt Poker debacle (see previous reports) has posted news that the almost three-year wait for payments may at last be almost at an end for some players.
Breaking the news on Twitter, the PPA announced: “DOJ says it completed it’s audit of GCG group player petitions. Approved release of $82 million in funds to approx 30,000 players”
PPA spokesmen said that an official announcement is due any moment from the third party administrators appointed by the US Department of Justice, Garden City Group.
The payments will probably begin in March this year and will be to those players whose claims have been fully audited and confirmed by the DoJ and GCG. Those that have been rejected can rest assured that the PPA has them in mind as it seeks full resolution to the issue.
The 30,000 or so accepted claims are all cases where the amount is undisputed after players were advised of their outstanding balances as calculated by GCG.
PPA executive director John Pappas posted on the twoplustwo forum:
“Players with undisputed claims should be looking for an email from Garden City Group within the next few weeks with instructions on how to receive their payment. The DoJ could not provide me with a definitive date on when these emails will go out and when payments will be processed. But it looks like it will be in advance of their March 31 deadline.”
What timeframes are involved with GCG assessments with which players disagree is not clear, but bringing these to a conclusion is likely to take some time as the differing viewpoints and arguments are studied.
